[singlepic id=3 w=320 h=240 float=right] Before you can fully appreciate the proposal story, first you need to hear some backstory. OK, now that you’ve read that, you may proceed.
Bethany and I took a trip to Chicago over St. Patrick’s Day weekend. I knew this was a big deal in Chicago, with the parade and dying the river green and such, and besides that, there is just a lot of stuff to do in Chicago. Chicago is such a cool place to visit.
We got into town on Friday and went to Navy Pier. On the Pier we ate dinner at Bubba Gump Shrimp, since I know Bethany is a fan of the movie Forrest Gump. Later that night we took a spin on the ferris wheel. It was so cool seeing Chicago lit up!
On Saturday we ventured downtown to see the river dyed green and the parade (which we ended up not watching). We finished the night at some famous pizza place, then dessert from The Cheesecake Factory.
On Sunday, our last day in town, we went to Lincoln Park Zoo. Lincoln Park Zoo has a sloth, did you know that? Some of you might see where this is going already. We went through the zoo, saving the sloth exhibit for the end. I had to pretend to need to take breaks in order for the timing to work out right. We go to the actual sloth exhibit around 12:30pm. We looked up in the trees but couldn’t see the sloth! I started to panic, not wanting the moment to be ruined. Finally, I found the sloth, WAY up in the tree, and pointed it out to Bethany. We stood there a moment, admiring this animal, when I pulled out my phone to check the time. I showed it to Bethany and said “Look, its 12:34, and we found the sloth. It seems like the perfect moment to ask you if you will be my wife”. Of course she said YES so I pulled the ring out of my pocket and placed it on her finger, and now here we are, planning our sweet wedding!
